With restrictions being slowly eased across the state, there's a renewed energy being felt in Melbourne and the regions.
However, we still need to be mindful of all the social distancing restrictions that are still in place. At this stage, we still only have regional Victorian's allowed to travel to our townhouse and only with family or two others and their dependents. Fingers crossed that after 8 November, our Melbourne bookings can go ahead and get to enjoy a safe and welcoming visit. We are following all COVID-safe guidelines for accommodation, with detailed cleaning protocols and contact-free check-ins. If you want to keep up to date with all travel restrictions for regional Victoria, click here. We hope to see you soon. We are loving this initiative by Five Creative to combat the negative media Vic was, and still is (especially Melbourne) receiving amidst our second wave. They've been printing merch and posting paraphernalia all across the state to give rise to love, hope and solidarity between the Victorian and Australian community.
Such a positive way to spend lockdown and encourage our community to come together during this strange and uncertain time. They've even posted the artwork and branding for anyone to use as a community service. And, in order, to keep the initiative running, you can purchase merch, with all proceeds going to distributing the message. We are definitely behind anything that breeds community spirit on a local, national and international basis, so you'll be seeing us using the two finger salute (the good way) to get behind Victoria. You can find out more here, or visit their instagram page here. We're excited to be opening our doors again for our fellow regional Victorians. Again, its bittersweet that folks in Melbourne are still restricted and we hope that we get to welcome them soon. In the meantime, we are accepting bookings from the 17th September. Please make sure to follow all guidelines to ensure safe travel and social distancing measures are in place.
You can read up on how we are maintaining our property and keeping our guests safe here We ask that all guests are mindful of the health and safety of our locals in Port Fairy and practise social distancing and safe hygiene practises during their stay. We also ask that if you show symptoms of COVID, you stay home. We have refund and reschedule options available to those who cannot travel due to illness. Here's to hoping that restrictions are eased for all of Victoria soon. Stay safe x Want to book that getaway, you can do that here Well, here we go again Vic. Feeling all the emotions that a stricter and now longer lockdown has for Melbourne and then the now regional Victoria. It also means that guests can no longer book to stay during this lockdown period. But if it means kicking this virus in the butt, I"m all for that.
Unsure about what that means for you? Check it out here: Melbourne Metropolitan Stage 4 travel restrictions Regional Victoria Stage 3 travel restrictions If you wish to have something to look forward to, we are still taking bookings for mid September onwards. And if things change again, we'll be happy to refund or reschedule your stay with us. Go take a look for yourself and start planning and dreaming. Book here Stay home, stay safe, stay sane and hope to see you soon x It's a little bitter-sweet to announce that as a regional Victorian holiday destination, Port Fairy and our house is still open for guests, while Melbourne and Mitchell Shire residents are setting up for 6 weeks of Stage 3 restrictions. So what does this mean regarding travel restrictions?
For Melbourne residents and Mitchell Shire We are sad that you can't travel for the next 6 weeks - as Melbourne residents we are in the same boat. Guests in these areas who have booked with us during this time will be offered a refund or reschedule at Moyne Mill Townhouse. The last thing you need is to worry about your money being spent on a holiday you can't have. Travel restrictions for Melbourne and Mitchell Shire residents can be found here For the rest of Victoria Overnight stays at tourist accommodation, including private holiday rentals are permitted. Guests from these areas who have booked stays with us are still very much welcome, but we ask you respect the town of Port Fairy and its residents and continue to social distance, wash your hands and practise safe hygiene or stay home if you are unwell. We offer refunds, without penalty, for guests who are unwell and unable to travel. Travel information for regional Victoria and other states can be found here We're all in this together As Melbourne residents ourselves, we know the frustration and despair that you are feeling. Let's hope that this next six weeks will see a flattening of the curve once again and a taste of freedom at least in our own state. Stay safe, stay well, stay home. Want to see a light at the end of the tunnel? For Melbourne residents who are using this time to dream about and plan a regional holiday you can book direct with us for stays after 20 August for a no questions asked 100% fully refundable cancellation policy up to the day of your stay. That way if restrictions are extended, or you are unwell, we will refund or reschedule your booking. Book now We love that our house has an interesting past. A five story steam flour mill that struggled financially and closed in 1871 to become a storage unit for the Belfast and Koroit Steam Navigation Co until 1883, it apparently then went on to become a skating rink and location for other various entertainments. The top two stories of bluestone were removed to construct the tower of St John’s Church in Regent Street, Port Fairy and the storage buildings were demolished. The lower stories remained intact but derelict and vacant for many years until it was successfully converted into 4 townhouses in 2002. It has been enjoyed by many a traveller since.
You can see Moyne Mill in its original form, overlooking the river below. Come see its new form and experience a little bit of history for yourself. We are excited that the Victorian government have eased travel restrictions within Victoria from June 1, meaning people can travel and stay in holiday accommodation.
You can read more about Victorian travel here. So we'd love to see you back in Port and enjoying our home. We will be adhering to the environmental cleaning guidlines, as provided by the Australian government. You can read them here. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have changed our curtains (its a thing), disinfected all surfaces, including door handles, handrails, tabletops and light switches. This will be included in our cleaning routine, along with a 24 hour buffer between all guests. Our house will have disinfectant stations in each of our bathrooms and guidelines will also be displayed for your information. Our priority is to ensure you feel safe, to alleviate any confusion or stress and to allow you to fully enjoy your home away from home. This forced shutdown has allowed us the time to slowly reflect and appreciate this space and what it means to us. Not only is it a holiday home away from home for our guests, but it is a place where we can come to and reconnect with our family and childhood friends. While we can't do this face to face at this present time, we're using this time to find ways we can make the experience of getting away from it all even better for our guests... Stay tuned, and in the meantime, enjoy some snapshots of our home.
COVID-19 sadly has us closing our doors for the time being. Thank you to those guests who have kindly rescheduled their stays to a later date. To those who have had to cancel and receive a full refund, we hope to see you back when our doors open again.
But while our doors are closed, our lines of communications are still open. So, if you have a question about our home, best times to stay or when you can book again, please drop us a line at [email protected]. In the meantime we'll try and get some great content to help you plan your stay and entice you back when you are ready to travel again and explore this great land of ours. Please stay safe, stay home (if you can) and stay kind. Fleur x |
Your host: FleurMy husband and I grew up in Warrnambool, Australia and love returning to our home town and surrounds with our kids. Port Fairy has been a natural holiday destination for us where we can relax and visit family and friends. We are excited to own a piece of history in the former mill and share it with others.
